The Portland Sheraton at Sable Oaks, a Colwen Hotels Property, is in search of friendly and professional On-Call Banquet Servers to join our team. In this role you will be responsible for providing smooth and efficient food service to guests during events.

General Responsibilities:

  • Ensure banquet rooms are set according to banquet event orders and management specifications
  • Acknowledge and welcome each guest with a smile, eye contact, and a friendly greeting (use guest name whenever possible)
  • Take orders from guests and deliver to appropriate person to execute
  • Review and understand event plan at beginning of each shift
  • Maintain knowledge of all menu items and composition
  • Delivers food, beverages, condiments and other requested items
  • Ensure that food is prepared correctly and to the guest s satisfaction; return incorrect or improperly cooked items to the kitchen
  • Collect plates and clear table as guests finish their meal
  • Adhere to all applicable Colwen and brand standards for food and beverage service and compliance with state liquor policies
  • Clean designated areas in accordance with defined procedures
  • Ensure sideboards are adequately stocked
  • Set tables to standards, and that all items are clean and in good repair
  • Assist with other restaurant tasks such as cleaning the dining area and preparing silverware and condiments
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, ability to solve problems
  • Previous server experience preferred
  • Ability to operate point-of-sale system
  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work with a team
  • Ability to maintain personal hygiene
  • Must be able to lift, balance and carry trays of food weighing up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to work varied hours, including nights, weekends and holidays
