On Call HHW Collection Education Assistant - Cape Cod Cooperative Extension

Barnstable County's Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collection Program is hiring an on call HHW Waste Collection Education Assistants to aid residents in properly disposing of household hazardous waste and provide education on handling, storing, and disposing of HHW and potential less toxic alternatives.

Duties are typically performed in support of individual one-day HHW collection events typically Saturdays in April through October, usually 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM or 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM.

Frequency: You may be scheduled for several Saturdays per month, based on your availability and location preference.

Work Environment:

• Outdoor settings in rain or shine-parking lots, transfer stations, or town facilities. You must wear:
• Long pants
• Sturdy closed-toe shoes
• Weather-appropriate clothing
• Gloves and safety vests are provided at each event.

Requirements:

• Minimum age: 18 years old
• Reliable transportation to assigned site
• Ability to:
• Lift up to 20 lbs
• Stand for several hours
• Friendly, professional attitude and ability to work as part of a team.
