Hiring Range

$16.80 - $21.83/Hourly Actual pay is determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, education, credentials, skills, internal equity, and business needs.
Overview
The On-Call Patient Care Assistant provides personal care, comfort measures and environmental services of the clients (including those needing special precautions) and preforms specific treatments. In addition, this position must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and provide the care needed as described according to the departmental policy and procedure. Promotes and maintains safe work environment for staff as well as our customers, incorporating national patient safety initiatives. Caregivers will be required to work 2 weeks of on call per month as well as holidays when required. The On-Call works effectively with Private Duty team to maintain an environment of excellence which is client focused and provides timely, appropriate, compassionate, quality client care.

What you will do
  • Demonstrates accountability for ensuring availability of resources (equipment, instruments, supplies) necessary to ensure positive patient outcomes. Maintains clean, safe and orderly work/patient environment by cleaning work stations/areas, equipment; stocking supplies; placing equipment in proper storage areas.
  • Demonstrates the ability to follow the plan of care that assures patients receive consistent, competent, and ethical care, within legal standards of practice, while maintaining privacy and support for the patients’ value system. Provides care consistent with both verbal and /or written instructions. Demonstrates competent understanding of assigned plans of care within appropriate scope of practice and responsibilities as directed by the RN/LPN to include accurately completing all required documentation.
  • Participates positively in training and support of all team members, volunteers and students as needed.

Qualifications

Education
  • Program Graduate, Personal Care Aide Training Program Approved by VA Department of Health/DMAS (Required) or
  • Program Graduate, Nurse Aide Training Program Approved by VA Board of Nursing (Preferred)

Experience
  • Prior work experience in a home care setting (Preferred)

Licenses and Certifications
  • CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) within 30 Days(Required)
  • Drives personal vehicle for RHS business 25% or more of the time to perform essential functions of the job
  • Valid Drivers License Required
