Department: Academy TheatersReports to: Director, Events A/VJob Type: Part-time – Regular                                                                                 Job Classification: Hourly (Non-exempt)                          Workplace Location: Los Angeles – Academy Museum, 8949 Wilshire, Pickford, and FairbanksCompensation: $30.00 - $32.00 per hourSummary/Objective:The On-Call Supervisor, Events A/V supports internal event production for non-exhibition audiovisual experiences at the Academy Museum and at the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences. This role is responsible for leading event day A/V staff and maintaining audiovisual technology inside Academy Theaters and within Academy event spaces.Essential Functions of the Job:
  • Serve as the A/V Lead for theater and non-theater activations.
  • Supervise a team of AV technicians.
  • Operate lighting consoles and digital audio consoles.
  • Troubleshoot common audiovisual issues.
  • Collaborate with event-day production with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain the highest level of production excellence.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Provide event-day supervision to On-Call Technicians. This position does not have direct reports.
Required Competencies:
  • A high School diploma or equivalent certificate of completion is required.
  • A minimum of four years as an A/V engineer or comparable experience.
  • A minimum of two years leading a production team or comparable experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with Dante and similar audio over IP technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate lighting and audio consoles.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to travel between Academy locations throughout the Los Angeles area.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and short notice events.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • A college degree in film production or technical theater is a plus.
  • Dante level 2 certified is a plus.
  • QSYS level 1 certified is a plus.
  • Understanding of technical theater terminology.
  • Experience with technical show calling or stage management.
  • Experience as a lead in a client-facing role.
  • Experience as a lighting, audio, or theater department lead.
  • Experience in infrastructure fiber/data traffic.
  • Project management experience supporting technical installations.
  • Passion for cinema and cinema history is a plus.
Physical Demands:
  • Comfort and ability to move and transport a minimum of 30 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods with or without reasonable accommodation.
Work Environment:
  • Work may be performed in a variety of settings, including darkened theaters, electrical or server rooms, conference rooms, shared office spaces, and noisy or crowded environments.
  • Work may be performed at heights requiring the use of heavy machinery, lifts, scaffolding, or harnesses.
Travel: Up to 30% of travel time is expected for this position.Required Vaccination: Full vaccination against COVID-19 is required, including any booster vaccinations as applicable. Exception: Medical and religious accommodations approved by the Office of People & Culture.Benefits:
