Permanent, full-time, 8 hours per day, 10-months, benefit-eligible

Principal / Transportation Coordinator

Salary/FLSA: Non-exempt

Grade 59: $16.48 - $22.23 per hour

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to pass a drug test, background check, and TB test before starting employment.
  • Meet the following requirements of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA):
  • hold an Associate's degree or higher (in any area);
  • or 30 semester hours; (in any area)
  • or a passing score as noted below on the WorkKeys Test offered at Catawba Valley Community College (CVCC)
  • Experience in taking, teaching, or developing an online course, or highly competent in integrating online learning into the traditional curriculum.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Proficient in using email, managing files, recording and reporting grades electronically, and using computer applications including word processors and spreadsheets.
  • Experience in using Canvas / NC Virtual Public School, and credit recovery software
  • Operational knowledge of the internet and web-related technologies.
  • Works independently with little direct supervision.
  • Accepts responsibility and is self-motivated.
  • Displays effective multi-tasking and time management skills.
  • Utilizes all required and recommended computer applications.
  • Must successfully complete the "Blended Learning" Online Class in preparation for online teaching.

Goal: To provide students the option of a positive, interactive, and nurturing online learning environment to earn high school graduation credits.

Duties:

  • Monitor online learning of subject matter content and skills in the specific subject area to secondary pupils utilizing course of study adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning activities
  • Maintain and manage access to online learning in the computer lab
  • Instruct pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district
  • Manage digital subject area material and methods to develop relevant sequential assignments that guide and challenge pupils
  • Encourage pupils to work and think independently
  • Evaluate each pupil's progress and provide feedback to help students achieve academic success
  • Communicate with students, parents and school counselors on pupil progress via email, instant message, threaded discussion, synchronous chat and phone on a regular basis
  • Provide delineated office hours for both job functions
  • Administer or monitor group tests
  • Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district, and in self-selected professional growth activities
  • Enroll eligible students for driver education classes offered throughout the school district.
  • Evaluate student records to determine if students are eligible to receive a N.C. driver's license.
  • Issue Driver Education Certificates (DEC) to parents of students that have successfully completed the driver education course work.
  • Retain and file all class rosters and DEC issued for audit purposes.
  • Must be able to perform very heavy work exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to lift objects
  • Other duties as assigned.
