Onboarding Specialist

Job Description:

 

The Onboarding Specialist is designed to support a best-in-class new hire experience at HITT. This role will be the primary contact for new hires supporting our self-perform craft population employed with wholly-owned subsidiary Brycon, their hiring managers, and various internal business stakeholders to ensure a seamless experience from signed offer to start date. This individual will guide new hires through pre-employment requirements, ensure managers are equipped to successfully onboard a new team member, and answer any questions or concerns throughout this phase.

 

The Onboarding Specialist contributes to our overall engagement strategy and is responsible for leading and facilitating new hire orientation. This role will help to familiarize new hires with Brycon and HITT's history and mission, culture and values, leadership team and work types. After day one, the Onboarding Specialist will support the assimilation of our new hires to Brycon and HITT’s policies and protocols, their job responsibilities, and our various tools and resources to ensure their ultimate success and productivity.

The successful candidate will be empathetic, caring, and passionate about the holistic employee experience. They will be resourceful and a quick learner, and comfortable juggling multiple projects at once. This role requires excellent attention to detail and organization skills, as well as a keen eye for creating meaningful experiences.

This role reports to the Compliance Senior Manager within the Human Resources department and will partner closely with our Recruiting team, HR Business Partners, and Talent Development team to gather and assess new hire feedback and execute future improvements to their experience.

Responsibilities

• Acts as the first line of support to candidates in the process of onboarding or have newly begun employment with HITT helping to ensure their access to vital information and creating the best first impression possible.
• Facilitates pre-employment requirements post a signed offer letter and guides candidates through drug screening, various onboarding paperwork, confirming their first day location and IT equipment, acquiring PPE and gear sizes, etc.
• Leads biweekly new hire orientation programs in-person for headquarters new hires and virtually for regional participants.
• Responsible for content management of new hire orientation, onboarding paperwork and various tools and resources for new hires and their manager’s, ensuring information is always current, relevant, and engaging.
• Ensures feedback is gathered at key milestones of the new hire experience, i.e., following orientation, 30-60-90-day touchpoints, 6-month to 1-year anniversaries, etc. and partners with the HR Business Partner team to identify emergent themes and recommend solutions to enhance their experience.
• Partners with the Talent Development team to support learning and development initiatives that ensure new hires are equipped for success in their roles, such as recommending new or revamped training, facilitating new hire cohort activities or networking opportunities, etc.
• Supports HITT’s Futures team, our unique entryway program into the construction industry, through interview panel coordination, career fair events, and other needs related to our internship and externship programs.
• Provides support as needed to HITT’s Team Member Engagement Manager for major corporate events including holiday parties, summer picnics, and various appreciation activities, etc.

Qualifications 

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Hospitality, HR, or other relevant area of study required.
• 1+ years of experience in a corporate setting required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Ability to work autonomously and self-direct priorities is required.
• Spanish speaking and writing literacy proficiency is a plus.
• Experience with Workday is a plus.
• Experience in orientation facilitation, onboarding and/or events management is desirable.
• Critical thinking and willingness to go the extra mile, giving even the smallest tasks a high level of attention.

In accordance with Virginia Senate Bill 215 (SB 215), the base salary range for this position is:

$67,000.00 - $87,000.00

Compensation in other cities and states may vary. HITT Contracting offers a competitive total benefits and compensation package including performance-based bonuses, premium health care coverage including vision and dental, employer-matched 401(k), wellness reimbursement program, paid holidays and time-off, and other voluntary benefits and leave types. The determination of salary is based on the candidate’s individual professional experience, qualifications, education, skills, and training.
