Job Title: Outpatient Oncologist

Location: New York City

Pay Range: $400,000 - $450,000 annually

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Outpatient Oncologist to join our multidisciplinary cancer care team in New York City. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive, patient-centered oncology care in an ambulatory setting and inpatient consultations, focusing on diagnosis, treatment planning, chemotherapy/immunotherapy management, survivorship care, and coordination with surgical, radiation, and specialty services.

This role emphasizes high-quality, evidence-based care, strong communication skills, and collaboration within a dynamic clinical environment serving a diverse urban population.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with solid tumors and/or hematologic malignancies in an outpatient and inpatient setting
  • Develop individualized treatment plans incorporating chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and supportive care
  • Oversee infusion therapy and monitor treatment response and toxicity
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary care with surgical oncologists, radiation oncologists, pathologists, radiologists, and primary care providers
  • Participate in tumor boards and case conferences
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnosis, prognosis, treatment options, and clinical trials
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including New York State Department of Health requirements
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain adherence to national oncology guidelines (e.g., NCCN)
  • Optional: Engage in clinical research and/or academic teaching if affiliated with a university medical center

Qualifications

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Medical Oncology and/or Hematology
  • New York State medical licensure
  • DEA registration
  • Completion of an accredited Internal Medicine residency and Hematology/Oncology fellowship
  • Strong clinical judgment and commitment to evidence-based medicine
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience with diverse patient populations preferred

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in outpatient oncology practice
  • Participation in clinical trials or translational research
  • Academic appointment or interest in teaching
  • Bilingual skills (Spanish, Mandarin, or other languages common in New York City communities)
