    Summary: Manages the scheduling process for inpatient admissions to ensure accurate clinical prioritization and proper load balancing. Facilitates oncology patient flow working closely with The Admission Center. Designs and implements systems to facilitate effective and comprehensive pre-admission process for oncology patients. Works collaboratively and acts as a key decision maker with the Admission Center and physician liaison to triage patients to hospital beds based on medical necessity, admission status, site of service, and level of care. Engages appropriate team members when volume fluctuates requiring resources or review. Ensures the coordination and completion of pre-certification/authorization work for liquid and solid admissions including making contact with insurer to obtain authorization for admission (to be completed by admin staff). Maintains calendar/source of truth current for liquid oncology, solid oncology, and transplant patient admissions. The RN is expected to promote organizational values of patient and visitor satisfaction by demonstrating courtesy and respect for patients and their families, visitors and other employees. Must demonstrate competence in the care of patients served. Hours of work: Monday - Friday 8:30 through 5:00pm. Hours may be flexible to meet the operational needs of the Department

    Credentials:

    • Registered Nurse - PA (Required)

    Education or Equivalent Experience: A minimum of two to three years oncology nursing experience required, ambulatory care experience is preferred. Evidence of excellent interpersonal relationships and communication skills. Consistently self-directed and a selfstarter, leader and effective facilitator of group dynamics. Demonstrated ability to think creatively and build consensus around a common vision. Must be able to function effectively under stressful situations and tight deadlines. Evidence of excellent analytical problem solving skills . Must have the ability to meet with providers and other team members to identify problems and provide viable solutions. Ensures appropriate utilization of resources consistent with the institutional mission and within budgetary constraints. Expected to act independently as a member of the practice team. Must be able to assume responsibility and perform assigned tasks without direct supervision. Ability to make professional and clinical judgments. Requires a great deal of interest, enthusiasm, adaptability and willingness to learn. Initiative is needed to proactively and continually improve the service and care rendered to patients in the oncology program.
