What You'll Do
Provide specialized nursing care to adult and geriatric oncology patients, primarily those with acute leukemia and hematology conditions
Administer chemotherapy, blood products, and IV medications following strict infection control protocols
Monitor telemetry and interpret dysrhythmias, ensuring patient safety and early intervention
Manage central lines, PICC lines, feeding tubes, and perform blood draws
Collaborate with the care team, utilizing Rapid Response Teams as needed
Document patient care accurately within EPIC electronic charting system
Support patient falls prevention and infection prevention initiatives
What You Need
Required:
Valid Ohio RN license
BLS, ACLS, and ONS Chemo Certification
Minimum 2 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 inpatient hematology/oncology experience
Proficiency with telemetry, IV therapy, blood products, and central lines
Preferred:
NIHSS certification and additional specialized skills
About the Assignment
This assignment takes place at a prominent acute leukemia and hematology unit, focusing on caring for newly diagnosed leukemia patients. The unit features a high volume of blood product administration, IV antibiotics, and electrolytes management. The schedule offers flexibility with no fixed rotations, and orientation is provided during the first two weeks to ensure you're fully prepared.
