Job Summary

Summary

Provide clinical care within the context of a clinical research study. Assist with subject recruitment, eligibility, informed consent, and protocol adherence.

Essential Functions

  • Provides nursing care to patients participating in clinical research studies utilizing standard of care procedures.
  • Implements nursing plan of care in connection with study protocol.
  • Monitors research participants for changes in health status, including monitoring toxicities, assessing clinical response, and providing exemplary patient care while ensuring the protocol is conducted in a high-quality manner.
  • Educates clinical staff and physicians regarding the study; updates clinical staff on study medications or changes in status and may administer study medications.
  • Communicates research related information to patients, families, nursing and medical staff.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's Degree Nursing required and Master's Degree Nursing preferred

Licenses and Credentials

Registered Nurse [RN - State License] - Generic - HR Only required

Experience

Oncology Nursing experience 2+ years required and Clinical research trials nursing experience (including Screening and Enrolling patients for trial, AE grading, trial activation and drug management) 2+ years required. IARCN Preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of research methodologies and statistical analysis.
  • Good communication and writing skills for publication and presentation.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations, ethical standards, and IRB processes.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving, critical decision makings, and professional judgement skills.
  • Screening and enrolling patients for trials
  • Patient education
  • Triage phone support for patients in between treatment visits
  • Symptom management
  • Expert knowledge of protocols
  • Meticulous documentation
  • Adverse Event Grading
  • Strong advocacy for patients while they are on trial.
