We are actively hiring an Oncology Research Scribe to support our Valkyrie Clinical Trials Century City, Los Angeles, CA site.

LOCATION: Onsite, Century City, Los Angeles, California.FLSA: Non-Exempt HOURS: Monday to Friday, Part Time, 30 hours per week.COMPENSATION: $22-$26 per hour (depending on experience)

The Oncology Research Scribe works alongside research oncologists and study staff during patient visits to capture accurate, timely clinical documentation in the EMR and study source. This role serves as a key support function, enabling physicians to focus on direct patient care.  By ensuring visit notes, orders, and follow-up items are captured completely and correctly the first time, the Scribe directly supports faster patient throughput, stronger protocol compliance, and a smoother experience for patients considering or enrolled in a clinical trial.

Essential Job Functions:

A.  Accompany research oncologists during patient encounters to document the history of present illness, review of systems, exam findings, assessment, and plan in real time in the EMR.

B.  Accurately transcribe physician dictation and observed clinical findings into structured EMR fields, study source, and templates.

C.  Enter and route follow-up orders (labs, imaging, referrals, scheduling) as directed by the physician during or immediately after the visit.

D.  Flag incomplete or ambiguous documentation to the physician for clarification before the note is finalized.

E.   Maintain strict confidentiality of patient health information in accordance with HIPAA and site policy.

F.   Coordinate with clinical research coordinators to ensure visit documentation aligns with protocol-required source data.

G.  Track and close out same-day follow-up items (results review, callbacks, prior authorizations) to prevent documentation backlog.

H.  Escalate recurring documentation or workflow issues to the Site Director to support continuous improvement in First Time Quality.

I.    Perform other duties as assignment by management.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:

A.  Work is normally performed in a typical interior clinical/office work environment.

B.  Local travel may be required.

C.  Extended periods of standing/walking alongside physicians during patient visits.

D.  Daily computer use.

E.   Ability to properly lift fifteen pounds and occasionally more than fifteen pounds.

F.   Occasional extended hours, including early or late work schedules.

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree, or progress toward a clinical credential, preferred.

Experience: 1+ years of relevant experience.Prior scribe, medical assistant, or clinical documentation experience strongly preferred; oncology or clinical research setting a plus.

Knowledge and Skills:

A.  Working knowledge of medical terminology, EMR systems, and clinical documentation standards.

B.  Strong typing speed and accuracy; ability to document in real time without slowing the clinical encounter.

C.  Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, including demonstrated comfort in asking clarifying questions to ensure accuracy.

D.  Ability to maintain composure and professionalism in a fast-paced oncology clinical environment.

E.   Demonstrates a patient-centered focus to supports a positive, efficient patient experience.

F.   Excellent interpersonal communication and collaboration skills.

G.  Excellent oral and written communication skills.

H.  Must be able to adapt, take on additional tasks as requested, and maintain both quality and pace of work.

I.    Demonstrates strong compliance and confidentiality, including ability to consistently follow HIPAA, protocol, and site SOP requirements.

J.    Proficient computer skills to include Office 365 products.

K.  Demonstrates core values and all skills set required.
