Job Summary:

The Oncology Scheduling Coordinator is responsible for processing patients for daily appointments. Ensuring the proper medical information and records are obtained. The incumbent gathers and provides information to patients, coordinates patient care and scheduling within the Electronic Medical Record and other systems. Assists with financial processing and provides additional clerical support to the department

Duties & Responsibilities:

Serves as a key contact and representative for patients.
Serves as a liaison and resource for referring providers and patients.
Obtains information from provider’s office to properly schedule patients for appointments/ visits.
Completes all forms and other paperwork needed for patient appointments.
Assists in the scheduling and coordination of appointments.
Assists with patient financial process.
Accurately completes insurance verification and works collaboratively with the health insurance providers.
Provides clerical support to department as needed.
Protects and preserves patient rights to confidentiality.
Participates in functions to achieve overall department goals and objectives.
Performs other job-related duties as required or directed.

Requirements:

High school diploma required, associate’s degree preferred with 2 or more years’ experience in a health care setting. Must have knowledge of third-party payers, medical terminology, and strong computer skills. Excellent customer service, interpersonal and communication skills, including phone etiquette required. Must be proficient in the English language.
