Start Date: 2026-2027 School Year
Position Summary:
Assist teacher to provide for physical and instructional needs of student with disabilities.
Position Requirements Education/Certification/License:
High School diploma or GED
Valid Texas educational aide certificate
Bilingual Preferred
Experience:
Some experience working with children
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to work with children with disabilities
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
Ability to communicate effectively
Knowledge of general office equipment
Physical Demands:
Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling
Regular heavy lifting of students
Biological exposure to bacteria and communicable diseases
Duties/Responsibilities
Supervise students inside and outside the classroom
Assist students with physical disabilities, including transferring to and from wheelchairs, lifting, or
positioning, and with physical and personal care needs
Help teacher prepare instructional materials
Assist with preparation of administrative records and required reports
Attends staff, in-service, and parent education meetings
Help supervise students throughout school day, inside and outside classroom. This includes
lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.
Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems of student.
Conduct instructional exercises with individual and small groups of students
Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned.
Maintain friendly customer service-driven interactions with all stakeholders, students, teachers, administrators, and co-
workers.
Work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that the goals of the school/department are met.
Maintain a positive and professional tone in all communications (i.e., email, written, and verbal)
Perform other duties and accept other responsibilities as assigned
