What are the duties and responsibilities?

  • Preview course(s) and become familiar with online content and course requirements
  • Provide bi-weekly/weekly reports via e-mail to Ignite’s administrative team by set deadlines
  • Provide final grades via progress reports upon request of Ignite’s administrative team
  • Respond to student communication within 24 school hours
  • Contact your students via platform communication tools at least once per week regarding assignments and deadlines
  • Grade any assignments or assessments required throughout the course (exams, papers, projects, etc.) within 48 school hours of submission
  • Provide office hours for 1 hour per week per class being taught. Office hours must be shared regularly through platform communication.
  • Monitor assignments and assessments to determine if the curriculum is being delivered effectively
  • Notify Ignite’s administrative team immediately if a student is failing or not participating
  • Provide feedback to Ignite’s administrative team based on your online teaching experience
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times.

What are the required qualifications?

  • PA Teaching Certificate in Physics.
  • Willingness to go through and pass the required clearances and training to ensure the safety and security of our children, including: mandated reporter training, a physical, and TB test. This can typically be accomplished within a week to get you started.
  • Ability to quickly establish rapport with students and adapt to different classroom settings.
  • Strong classroom management skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to different teaching assignments.
  • Capacity for sitting, standing, walking, bending and stopping for long periods of time, as these happen throughout the eight-hour day.
