The Opportunity:

In this role, you will report to the Territory Area Manager and will work closely with the Avantor's Advanced Laboratory Services professionals to serve our customers by performing customized, mission-based lab work and research protocols that help return time back to science.

Location: New Haven, CT

Shift: Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Hourly pay range: $24.00 - $27.00

What we're looking for

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED required

  • Bachelor's degree preferred

Experience:

  • 1-2+ years of experience in inventory management, procurement, or related operations preferred

  • Exposure to laboratory or regulated environments (e.g., GMP) is a plus

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer use

  • Familiarity with inventory or procurement systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms) preferred

  • Basic understanding of order tracking and inventory processes

  • Familiarity with hazardous material handling and shipping procedures is a plus

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Ability to follow established processes and procedures

  • Effective communication and customer service skills

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

  • Team-oriented with the ability to collaborate effectively

  • Willingness to learn and develop operational knowledge

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

  • Comfortable working in lab and/or warehouse environments

  • Ability to meet safety, quality, and performance standards

Avantor's Advanced Laboratory Services team is a crucial part of the Avantor Services group serving over 500 customers in biopharma, pharmaceutical, educational, industrial, and high-tech industries with customizable, flexible solutions and end-to-end laboratory operations support.

  • Inventory Management:

Perform routine inventory tasks, including receiving, stocking, tracking, cycle counting, and maintaining accurate inventory records for consumables, chemicals, and lab supplies.

  • Order Processing & Procurement Support:

Enter and track orders, monitor backorders, assist with expediting shipments, and maintain purchasing documentation.

  • Shipping & Receiving:

Process inbound and outbound shipments, prepare shipping documentation, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements, including hazardous materials handling.

  • Customer Service:

Provide responsive support to internal teams and customers by fulfilling requests, answering inquiries, and communicating order or inventory status updates.

  • Data Entry & Documentation:

Accurately input data into inventory and procurement systems and maintain organized records in accordance with company standards.

  • System Utilization:

Use company and customer systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Citrix, VWR+, ChemSW) to complete daily tasks and maintain data accuracy.

  • Compliance & Safety:

Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety guidelines, and quality standards in all activities.

  • General Operational Support:

Assist with inventory audits, reporting, and other duties as assigned to support overall site operations.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
