Overview: The OP L2 Pharmacy Technician supports patient access to prescribed medications by managing the prior authorization (PA) process for specialty, high-cost, and complex drug therapies. This role works closely with pharmacists, providers, clinic staff, payers, and patients to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant submission of authorization requests, minimizing treatment delays and supporting continuity of care for UF Health Patients. Qualifications: Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:: All Pharmacy Technicians must be registered with the Florida Board of Pharmacy as a Registered Pharmacy Technician. L2 technicians must have CPhT or XCPT technician certification within 6 months of hire. Education, Experience, and Training: Must meet all requirements of a Pharmacy Technician Level 1, including required competencies. In addition, one of the following requirements must be met: 12 months of Shands Pharmacy Technician experience. 6 months of Shands Pharmacy Technician experience and one of the following: Two years hospital/institutional pharmacy or retail pharmacy experience. Demonstrate the ability to work independently. Demonstrate the ability to contribute to effective working relationships. Experience managing projects preferred. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite preferred Job Knowledge: Must know how to operate typewriter, calculator, fax machine, and computer workstation. Must demonstrate the ability to perform mathematical calculations required to prepare medications. Some knowledge of insurance and billing regarding ambulatory practices highly desired. Additional Requirement: As a condition of employment within the Pharmacy Services Department of Shands Hospital all employees must be accessible by telephone. This requires each employee to provide a valid telephone number to the department staff assistant, in order for the department to reach them in the event of hospital need and/or emergency. Licensure/Certification/Registration:: All Pharmacy Technicians must be registered with the Florida Board of Pharmacy as a Registered Pharmacy Technician. L2 technicians must have CPhT or XCPT technician certification within 6 months of hire Motor Vehicle Operator Designation:: Employees in this position: Will not operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose NOTE: A frequent driver is defined as one who uses his/her personal or Shands automobile a) at least once daily, b) at least five individual trips per week or c) drives, on average, over 150 miles per week in the performance of his/her job. Please indicate the appropriate operator designation on the Request for Personnel (RFP) form at the time a RFP is submitted to post the position.
