UPMC Department of Pediatrics is hiring a full-time OP Nurse Coordinator to join their Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine team out of Children's Hospital. This is a Monday through Friday daylight position with the hours of 8am to 4:30pm. The OP Nurse Coordinator will support clinic operations and patient care for Sever Asthma Clinic through provider support and patient education. Outside of clinic, they perform phone triage, process refills, faxes and patient lab testing/results, portal messages and submit authorizations.
This department has 12 physicians and 6 APPs, Ranked 8th in U.S. News and World Report. We are a comprehensive Pulmonology Division providing care for Asthma, Bronchopulmonary dysplasia, Cystic Fibrosis, Lung Transplantation, Interstitial Lung Disease, Neuromuscular disease with respiratory complications, and sleep disorders

Purpose:
The Outpatient Nurse Coordinator is a Registered Nurse is a member of the care delivery team. The Outpatient Nurse Coordinator is responsible for the care of the patient in a global view, accountable for multiple aspects of the patient care package even when patient contact is minimized. The Outpatient Nurse Coordinator uses independent judgment and continued communication with the patient, family, physician and community resources to assist the patient in attaining a measure of outpatient health. The Outpatient Nurse Coordinator a commitment to the community and to the nursing profession.
Responsibilities:
The individual must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and/or interact appropriately to the ages of the patients served by his/her assigned unit as specified below. They must also demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patients status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patients requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs and to provide the care needs as described in the department policy and procedures.Minimum 3 years nursing experienceBSN preferred.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in practicing state. CPR CertificationUPMC approved national certification preferred.CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
