Position Summary
Lead, oversee, and participate in the more complex and difficult work of staff responsible for the maintenance and repair of city open space areas, habitats, ecosystems, riparian areas, and facilities; inventory and purchase materials for construction, and land improvement; and environmental restoration projects including ecological and biological improvements to habitats; and perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned areas of responsibility.
This is a safety sensitive position subject to random drug/alcohol testing.

SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:
Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements
High school diploma or GED; and
Five (5) years of parks or grounds maintenance/repair and heavy equipment operation experience; and
To include two (2) years of lead or supervisory experience.
Training in habitat improvement and restoration, ecosystem and riparian area improvement, tree and plant identification, herbicide, pesticide and fertilization application preferred.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid New Mexico Commercial Drivers License (CDL), Class A.
Possession of a valid City Operators Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire into position.
Possession of a herbicide and pesticide application license within six (6) months from date of hire.
Working Conditions
Environmental:
Field and construction site environment; work around traffic, heavy construction, specialized maintenance equipment, heavy brush clearing, and grinding equipment; exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and inclement weather conditions.
Physical:
Essential and supplemental functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for standing and walking for prolonged periods; moderate to heavy lifting; operating motorized equipment and vehicles.
