Our client, a leader in commercial real estate services, is seeking an Operating Engineer 5 to join their team. As an Operating Engineer 5, you will be part of the Facilities Management Department supporting the engineering and maintenance teams. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, technical expertise, and a proactive approach to facility operations, which will align successfully in the organization.
Job Title: Operating Engineer 5
Location: Costa Mesa, CA
Payrate: $45.00-$46.00 hourly
What's the Job?
- Oversee and supervise the engineering department staff to ensure efficient building operations
- Perform comprehensive inspections and maintain adherence to safety and maintenance standards
- Monitor and troubleshoot building systems including HVAC, fire/life safety, electrical, plumbing, and backup generators
- Respond promptly to alarms and emergency situations, coordinating repairs and safety protocols
- Manage permits, inventory, and procurement activities to support ongoing maintenance needs
What's Needed?
- Minimum of 5 years' experience with commercial building systems and maintenance procedures
- Supervisory experience managing engineering teams or maintenance staff
- Knowledge of building management systems (BAS) and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
- Certifications such as EPA Universal Technician for CFCs, HVAC, Fire Pump, and HVAC certifications are highly desirable
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, manuals, and work orders effectively
