Job Summary and Qualifications

The Operating Engineer  performs skilled work on building systems throughout the hospital. As a member of the Facilities Management team, you will have important contact with patients, visitorsandclinical staff every day. Your mechanical aptitude and knowledge offacility and plant operations are an opportunity to be a part of something bigger. Your commitment to service, safety and professionalism will contribute to achieving the best experience for our patients. 

What you will do in this role:  

  • You will perform routine maintenance and light repairs in areas including plumbing, medical gas, doors and hardware, electrical, nurse call and HVAC systems. 
  • You will operate building automation systems. 
  • You will ensure the operation of fixed plant equipment by performing daily building and equipment checks and recording status of equipment. 
  • You will respond to building system casualties and fire alarms and take immediate action to restore services. 
  • You will install and/or changeout appliances and wall hangings. 
  • You are responsible forscheduled preventative maintenance on building systems. 
  • You will assist in controlling and maintaining the materials inventory. 

What qualifications you will need:  

  • High School diploma or equivalent 
  • Hospital/Commercial experience preferred 
  • Skill in the use of hand and power tools used in installations, repair and maintenance of equipment, buildings and grounds 
  • Five or more years of experience preferred
