We are seeking an experienced OR Charge Nurse to oversee the daily OR scheduling and room assignments to maximize efficiency across all four orthopedic suites. Including coordination with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and surgical technologists to ensure on-time case starts and efficient room turnover.

This position requires the ability to stand and remain on feet for the majority of a shift (8–10+ hours) in an OR environment, frequently required to reach, bend, stoop, and assist with patient positioning and surgical table adjustments and the ability to lift and maneuver surgical equipment, instrument trays, and implant systems; team lift required for bariatric or complex positioning.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises day to day operations of the Operating Room
  • Liaison between Pre-op and OR
  • Liaison between surgery and anesthesia to facilitate patient care
  • Mentor and support perioperative staff, particularly those new to ambulatory orthopedic surgery.
  • Monitor and manage instrument, equipment, and implant availability for each scheduled orthopedic case; coordinate proactively with vendor representatives for orthopedic hardware (total joint, spine, sports medicine, trauma).
  • Oversee proper medication management, including controlled substance handling and documentation per DEA requirements and facility policy.
  • Uphold patient rights, confidentiality requirements (HIPAA), and privacy standards at all times.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, professionalism, and patient-centered care

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of perioperative RN experience required; orthopedic surgical experience required.
  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience in an ambulatory surgery center (ASC) setting preferred.
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of Kansas required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required (or must obtain within 90 days of hire).
  • CNOR (Certified Nurse Operating Room) certification preferred.
