Operating Room Lead Nurse (RN) – San Diego, CA

 

A healthcare organization is seeking an experienced Operating Room Lead Nurse (RN) to provide clinical leadership and support within a busy surgical services department. This role combines direct patient care with operational oversight and team coordination to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality surgical services.

 

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee daily patient care activities within the operating room

  • Serve as a clinical resource and subject matter expert for surgical services staff

  • Assign and support team members to ensure safe and efficient patient care delivery

  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate surgical procedures

  • Review surgical schedules and assist with procedural planning

  • Coordinate equipment, specialty products, and supply needs for upcoming cases

  • Support operating room staff during procedures and provide clinical assistance as needed

  • Monitor compliance with patient safety standards, policies, and best practices

  • Assist with workflow management, staffing support, and operational projects

  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and departmental goals

  • Foster a collaborative, patient-centered surgical environment

 

Qualifications

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license or eligibility for licensure

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

  • Previous operating room nursing experience required

  • Experience supporting orthopedic, neurological, spine, or other specialty surgical procedures preferred

  • Leadership, charge nurse, or team lead experience preferred

  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced perioperative environment

  • Commitment to delivering high-quality patient care and supporting team success
