Position Title: Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN)
Location: Rome, NY 13440
Duration: 13 Weeks (Possible Extension)
Work Schedule: Days, 4x10-Hour Shifts (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM)
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients before, during, and after surgical procedures.
- Serve as the circulating nurse while maintaining a safe and sterile operating room environment.
- Prepare the operating room, surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment for procedures.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical technologists, and the interdisciplinary team.
- Monitor patients throughout surgical procedures and respond promptly to changes in condition.
- Accurately document intraoperative care using the facility's electronic charting system.
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention, patient safety, and regulatory standards.
- Participate in on-call coverage as scheduled.
- Assist with patient transfer and handoff to the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
To be considered for this position, you should have: [Skills, Education, or Experience]- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (New York or Compact License, if applicable).
- Minimum of 1 year of recent Operating Room (OR) nursing experience preferred.
- Previous travel nursing experience preferred.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- NIH Stroke Certification completed prior to the start date.
- Ability to complete an additional 8 hours of facility-required CEUs during orientation.
- Strong knowledge of perioperative nursing practices, sterile technique, and patient safety standards.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work flexible shifts as needed (no later than 7:00 PM).
Additional Information:- Call Requirement: Approximately 5 call shifts per month, including 2 weekend call shifts.
- Weekend Requirement: No scheduled weekends except while on call.
