Role Summary

The Operating Room RN Circulator Educator is a key clinical leader responsible for advancing perioperative nursing excellence through education, mentorship, and program development. This role extends beyond bedside care, focusing on building clinical competency, enhancing team performance, and driving continuous improvement across the surgical environment.

This position is ideal for an experienced OR nurse who is passionate about teaching, developing others, and shaping the future of perioperative care. You will play a vital role in equipping clinical teams with the knowledge, confidence, and skills needed to deliver safe, high-quality patient outcomes.

Duties & Responsibilities

Education & Training Leadership

  • Design and deliver comprehensive education programs for clinical staff with a focus on perioperative nursing

  • Teach technical and theoretical concepts using effective adult learning principles

  • Serve as a resource for staff onboarding, competency validation, and ongoing professional development

Simulation & Clinical Innovation

  • Utilize simulation-based training tools, including mannequins and clinical software, to enhance learning and readiness

  • Develop realistic simulation scenarios to improve critical thinking, clinical judgment, and patient safety

Collaboration & Program Development

  • Partner with department managers and clinical nurse coordinators to assess and address educational needs

  • Support the development and implementation of organization-wide education strategies

  • Collaborate with Quality Management teams to align training initiatives with performance improvement goals

Quality & Continuous Improvement

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs using measurable outcomes and feedback

  • Identify opportunities for clinical improvement and support system-wide quality initiatives

  • Assist with quality-related projects and organizational initiatives as needed

Professional Excellence

  • Maintain high standards of communication, organization, and professionalism

  • Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and compassionate care

  • Uphold patient confidentiality and ethical standards in all aspects of practice

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
    (Relevant experience and national certifications may be considered with a commitment to obtain a BSN within three years)

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Oregon

  • Certifications required:

    • Basic Life Support (BLS – Healthcare Provider)

    • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)

    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

    • CNOR certification

  • Minimum of five (5) years of hospital nursing experience

  • At least three (3) years of Operating Room experience

Desired Qualifications

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) strongly preferred

  • Experience in education, staff development, or clinical training

  • Experience with simulation-based learning and training methodologies

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel)

  • Ability to develop curriculum, learning objectives, and evaluation tools

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and adapt in a dynamic environment
