Position Summary

The Operations Accounting Supervisor serves as a key business partner to the Downstream Operations and Commercial teams, ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting, maintaining a strong internal control environment, and supporting operational decision-making through financial analysis. This role is responsible for safeguarding company assets, managing financial risk, and providing insight into business performance across multiple manufacturing locations.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure financial transactions are recorded accurately and in compliance with IFRS, including inventory, payroll, operating expenses, and capital expenditures.
• Prepare, analyze, and interpret monthly financial results, forecasts, and budgets, providing recommendations to improve business performance.
• Monitor and analyze variances between actual, budgeted, and forecasted results.
• Develop, maintain, and strengthen internal controls while supporting SOX compliance and external audit requirements.
• Partner closely with operations leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with company policies related to inventory management, production reporting, revenue recognition, procurement, and payment processes.
• Support the annual planning and forecasting process.
• Prepare financial reports and presentations using Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other reporting tools.
• Collaborate with corporate accounting, tax, audit, and operations teams to ensure alignment and consistency across the organization.
• Provide guidance, coaching, and leadership to accounting resources supporting downstream operations.
• Participate in special projects and continuous improvement initiatives as needed.

Scope and Impact

• Supports multiple downstream manufacturing operations, including Rail Products, Grinding Ball, Heat Treat, Outside Processing, and other locations as assigned.
• Provides financial leadership and operational support across a diverse manufacturing environment.
• May oversee and develop accounting personnel as business needs evolve.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited institution.
• CPA, CMA, or other professional accounting designation preferred.
• Minimum of 7 years of accounting experience, with a strong background in cost accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Prior experience in a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.
• Experience working with inventory accounting, internal controls, and financial analysis.
• Previous supervisory or team leadership experience is preferred.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial systems.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to build effective relationships and partner with stakeholders across all levels of the organization.
