    Description


    Our client is seeking a Surface Operations & Compliance Lead to support surface development, construction, permitting, and restoration activities tied to oil and gas well plugging and abandonment projects across California. This individual will oversee projects from planning through execution while ensuring all work is compliant with state and local regulations. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in California surface operations, including estimating, permitting, and managing projects such as grading, access roads, facility construction, and site restoration. This person will operate as both a technical resource and field leader.


    About the Role

    This position will be responsible for planning, estimating, and executing surface-related projects, including construction, decommissioning, grading, and restoration. The role will oversee contractors, manage project timelines and budgets, and ensure work is completed safely and efficiently.

    In addition, this individual will handle permitting and regulatory compliance, including preparing and submitting permits and working closely with local agencies. This role will serve as a key liaison to ensure all operations align with California regulations.

    What Our Partner is Looking For

    Our client is targeting candidates with 7+ years of experience in California oil and gas surface operations, along with strong experience in construction, estimating, and permitting. A solid understanding of CalGEM regulations is important.

    A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is preferred but not required. Prior leadership or project oversight experience is strongly desired.
