The Operations Assistant Foreman is responsible for ensuring safe, effective, and efficient operation of the Bulk Department.
Responsibilities
Assist the Shift Foreman in his overall responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of the Bulk Department shift duty.
Assume the Shift Foreman’s duties and responsibilities in his absence.
Prepare and maintain all relevant operational paperwork.
Conduct line-up checks.
Coordinate communications with vessels and the Logistics Department as well as Inspectors/Surveyors.
Troubleshoot mechanical problems.
Enforce company policies and procedures and initiate disciplinary action as appropriate.
Completely and accurately communicate information to relieving Shift Foreman.
Issue Safe Work and other permits as authorized.
Maintain a working knowledge of all pumps and pipelines.
Perform duties of a Gauger or Dock Operator as well as any and all duties assigned by the Shift Foreman as required.
Conduct railcar operations where necessary.
Maintain status as a member of the Emergency Response Team.
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent
Must have a working knowledge of the terminal operational facilities
Valid Driver’s License
TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credentials) for access to IMTT’s terminal locations
Skills and Abilities
Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
Ability to understand written and verbal communication in the English language.
Ability to work independently and effectively in a team environment
Ability to work closely with others with a positive attitude and a willingness to help others.
Ability to represent IMTT in a professional and positive manner.
Ability to manage numerous projects in a frequently changing work environment
Compliance with all Company policies and procedures.

Supervisory and management skills.
Hours of Work
Typical hours of operation are rotating shifts at night, during holidays, and on the weekends.
This is a non-exempt, hourly position. Employees are scheduled to work assigned shifts within a 24/7 operation, including nights, weekends, and holidays. All hours worked must be accurately recorded, and overtime is paid in accordance with FLSA and company policy.
This position requires the ability to always respond and be available for contact.
Occasional travel may be necessary up to 25%, sometimes with little or no advance notice.
Physical and Environmental Demand
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
The large scale of the operation and the extensive layout of the facility require that the applicant have the ability to walk and stand on uneven terrain, to climb stairs and ladders, and traverse inclines: uphill, downhill or mixed. Furthermore, because the facility and adjoining facilities handle hazardous materials, the applicant must be able to ingress and egress in foreseeable emergencies. The applicant must be able to work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others.
This would require the ability to lift up to 25 pounds, bend, stand, or stoop, as necessary.
Ability to perform climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling and moderate lifting.
Must be able to work in a confined space, work over water, climb stairs and not be afraid of heights. Must be capable of wearing respirator and/or other PPE during some operations or emergencies.
