Summary:

The Media Services Operations Coordinator (OC) plays a broad and essential role in Media Services operations. The general objective of the position is to efficiently manage daily operations and delivery of services in Media Services. Oversight of services, including activity in the Media Lab and classrooms, is vital to ensure required technical support for students, faculty, and staff audiovisual (AV) needs. The OC serves as the point person for the scheduling of all campus events that require AV, including assignment of Media Services technicians and students.  

Primary Job Duties:

  1. Technical Coordinator
    1. Maintains a high-level understanding of the diverse technologies supported by the department. 
    2. Serves as liaison with students, faculty, and staff for all event and classroom technology requests.
    3. Maintains a thorough understanding of networking principles as they pertain to AV equipment and presentation technologies.
  2. Media Assistant Team Administrator
    1. Responsible for recruitment, interviews, and selection of media assistants (students).
    2. Coordinate student work schedules around class schedules, to meet the needs and commitments of scheduled events and media classroom coverage.
    3. Creates documentation for students (ex: roles, expectations, forms, and questionnaires). 
    4. Sets performance expectations and offers informal reviews of customer service skills.
  3. Media Services Lab Management
    1. Training clients on all technical aspects of the lab. 
    2. Assist users in learning how to create and implement solutions using media technologies.
    3. Create instructional manuals for the lab and then reviewing their work for accuracy and detail.
    4. Oversee effective poster printing, including ticket submission and resolution.
  4. Event Support
    1. Interacts with and provides technical and event support for faculty, staff, students, and guests of the college.
    2. Continuous interaction with the event requester to ensure availability, configuration, and support of required AV technology.
    3. Quickly adapts to the specific needs of presenters, problem solves, and maintains composure under highly stressful and time intensive conditions.
    4. Assures the proper operation of AV equipment used for campus events.
  5. Inventory Control
    1. Manage the Media Services equipment loan system. 
    2. Submits equipment purchase requests to the Director in advance of need.
    3. Recommends audiovisual upgrades/changes when needed to build, maintain and improve IT operations and meet constituents' needs.
    4. Continuously reviews Media Services inventory practices to identify and correct inefficiencies.  Optimizes and improves processes and the overall approach where necessary.

Qualifications and Competencies:

Education: An Associate’s Degree in IT or a related field from a regionally accredited institution is preferred. Certification in IT service and with Audio Visual technology desired.

Experience:

  • Minimum three (3) years of experience with technology required
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in Media Services required
  • A high degree of technical knowledge of AV hardware and software is required
  • A high degree of technical knowledge of desktop hardware and software required
  • Knowledge of, competency in and familiarity with Extron or similar AV control systems is highly desired
  • Experience configuring AV control systems is highly desired
  • Experience working on IT projects and working with AV integrators is highly desired
  • Demonstrated ability to be technically innovative
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required
  • Experience in providing excellent customer service
  • Demonstrated ability to remain calm in stressful situations
  • Experience with ticketing systems
  • Experience with video editing and a variety of multimedia file formats
  • Ability to multi-task and manage various project elements simultaneously

Pay range: $24.00-$26.00
