    Description

    Operations Director - Edison, NJ
    Our client is a is a leading supplier of surfacing products(countertop/floor/wall) in North America. They are currently searching for an experienced Operations Director to add to their team.
    Work Hours: Monday to Friday from 08:00 AM to 05:00 PM, 1 Saturday(s) a month from 08:00 AM to 01:00 PM

    Summary: The Operations Director is responsible for the effective management of the warehouse operations; including shipment performance, productivity management and direct supervision of team members.

    To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to complete the following essential duties and responsibilities:

    o Responsible for assuring all shifts and functions are properly staffed to execute varied work volume, manage flow of orders to the floor to optimize operation for over 50 employees in a regional hub at 200,000 square foot facility.

    o Develop, maintain and manage facility quality process.

    o Ensure on-time shipping performance; work closely with employees, delivery drivers and Foreman to ensure receipts and shipments meet standards.

    o Manage daily/weekly/monthly quality and productivity reporting.

    o Supervise realignment activities to ensure maximum optimization of the facility.

    o Manage operational activities to ensure DC layout and continuous improvement activities support goals of the operation.

    o Provide direct supervision to the Operation Managers. Hold them accountable for their performance and the performance of their teams.

    o Provide leadership, training, and supervision to 50 + team members.

    o Continuously work towards increasing the leadership capability of the team and drive professional growth.

    o Responsible for all facility/equipment maintenance and supplies.

    o Responsible for maintaining a safe working environment and overseeing safety compliance.

    o Perform additional duties as required and or requested.

    Additionally the candidate must meet the following Education and/or Experience requirements:

    o Must have supervised at least 40+ team members.

    o Must have 5 years of Distribution Center Operations experience. Preferably in building materials or Multiple SKU transactions environment

    o Lean Manufacturing principles highly desired.

    o Proficient in MS Office Suite - Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.

    o Familiarity utilizing mobile devices in a fast paced work environment.

    o Related industry experience; natural stone, tile or hard flooring industries a plus.

    o Capable of presenting operational data to the business and leadership team.

    o Demonstrated ability to drive cultural change while improving efficiencies and processes. Ability to adapt quickly to changing business needs.

    o Strong knowledge and understanding of Distribution and Warehouse Management applications.

    o Bachelor’s degree and/or college coursework preferred.

    o A minimum of 5 years of supervisory/management experience.

    o Demonstrated leadership and managerial abilities.

    o Goal-oriented with proven record of self-motivation and achievements.

    o Strong proactive with strong analytical skills.

    o Uses creativity to seek quality solutions and process improvements.

    o Must have excellent People Management and Time Management skills and abilities.

    o Demonstrated ability to drive cultural change while improving efficiencies and processes.

    o Ability to adapt quickly to changing business needs.

    o Proactive and able to manage ambiguity effectively.

    o Ability to conceptualize and think strategically.

    o Strong knowledge and understanding of Distribution and Warehouse Management applications.

    o Capable of presenting operational data to the business and leadership team.
