Job Title: Operations Engineer

Job Description

A leading manufacturer of chemical additive products is seeking an Operations Engineer for its Sauget, IL location. This role involves supporting various units and decommissioning processes, with a focus on driving operational efficiency, meeting key performance indicators in safety, quality, throughput, production, reliability, and maintenance. The position requires cross-functional collaboration and leadership, along with reporting and cost management responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate safe and efficient operations to meet production and quality targets within budgeted costs.
  • Supervise unionized wage and salaried non-union personnel.
  • Manage budgeting and cost control efforts.
  • Identify opportunities for cost and efficiency improvements.
  • Ensure personnel are adequately trained to perform their jobs.
  • Direct outside contractors as needed.
  • Interact with raw material suppliers, first layer of buyers/customers, and corporate personnel in S&OP business planning, procurement, and capital planning.
  • Support the operation of the unit with direct reports, including team managers and process engineers.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in engineering, quality assurance, safety, chemical processes, and reliability.
  • 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing/operations supervision, focusing on OEE, cost management, quality, KPI management, and operation unit results.
  • Experience with cross-functional teams and presenting to upper-level management.
  • Understanding of OSHA and PSM regulations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Degree in Chemical Engineering or Industrial Engineering, or strong experience in chemical manufacturing.
  • Experience working in a union environment is beneficial but not mandatory.

Work Environment

The role requires spending at least 75% of the time in the plant and on the floor with cross-functional teams, ensuring a hands-on approach to operational efficiency and effectiveness.

This is a Contract position based out of Sauget, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $85.00/hr.
