Travel Requirement: Regular travel throughout Northern New Jersey is required to visit line shops and service centers. Candidates must be comfortable traveling between multiple field locations.
The Operations Financial Analyst Utility Operations will partner directly with Field Electric (FE) Managers, Directors, Business Services, Operations, and Accounting Policy teams to improve capitalization performance. This is a hands-on, field-facing role requiring regular travel to line shops and service centers across Northern New Jersey.
Operations Financial Analyst Responsibilities
Travel throughout Northern New Jersey to line shops and service centers, with a focus on locations experiencing lower capitalization rates.
Meet directly with FE Managers and Directors to review financial performance, labor hours, time charging, and capitalization results.
Ask targeted questions about where and how labor hours are being charged to identify inconsistencies and improvement opportunities.
Analyze QV, Business Services, and Operations reporting and help streamline dashboards and leading indicators.
Partner with Accounting Policy to translate accounting requirements into clear, actionable guidance for Operations teams.
Support training for line supervisors, shop personnel, and Business Services teams.
Participate in Accounting Policy and Engineering reviews of standard designs and capitalization implications.
Review time-charging processes and tools, including PowerOn follow-up activities.
Operations Financial Analyst Qualifications
Strong financial and analytical skills, including experience reviewing operational financials and identifying trends or inconsistencies.
Ability and willingness to travel regularly throughout Northern New Jersey.
Strong communication and questioning skills, with confidence engaging Managers, Directors, supervisors, and field personnel.
Knowledge of capitalization, accounting policy, labor/time charging, financial reporting, or utility operations.
Ability to translate complex financial or accounting concepts into practical operational actions.
Operations Financial Analyst Preferred Qualifications
Utility, energy, field operations, engineering, or line shop experience.
Experience with reporting tools, dashboards, QV, PowerOn, or work management systems.
Experience partnering across Accounting, Finance, Engineering, Business Services, and Operations.
This Operations Financial Analyst will make an immediate impact by improving capitalization practices, reporting consistency, and financial decision-making across field operations.
