Description <-- Simple Share Buttons Adder 7.4.17 simplesharebuttons.com -->TwitterLinkedinFacebookGooglePinterestemailThe Operations Machinery Manager is primarily responsible for reviewing advising and reporting to the Owner Representatives on the quality of construction of machinery systems and related spaces of the Dolphin Plus class vessels under construction at Eastern Shipbuilding. Owner Representatives include the onsite Project Manager onsite project team and Program Manager &8212 New Construction at Foss. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to supporting outfitting and spares procurement preparations for each vessel&8217s mobilization and preparation for each vessel&8217s entry into service.This is a full-time position that will continue through the duration of the project contract with an anticipated conclusion on or before April 1 2027. At the mutual discretion of the Project Manager and OM Manager this position will be reclassified as part-time with an NDA in place.Essential FunctionsReview vessel installations of machinery systems and related onboard spaces. Report operational issues or deficiencies per the shipyard contract design information and applicable regulations to the Owner Representatives.Advise the Owner Representatives of potential operational issues with design or construction of vessel arrangements and systems.Advise Owner Representatives on issues and questions related to vessel operations crew habitability and related topics.Support Owner Representatives with review and recommendations on commissioning testing and trials procedures. Support the Owner Representatives with vessel commissioning testing and trials oversight as requested.Participate in or lead reviewing updating ordering receiving managing and loading on board spares outfitting and documentation items necessary for operations.Create or assist in creating vessel documentation necessary for safe operation of vessels in accordance with industry regulatory and company requirements.Support preparations for vessels to be repositioned after shipyard delivery.Support handover of information and other preparations for vessels to enter into service at each vessel&8217s operating port.For significant periods of time this position will be operating in Florida traveling between the Allanton and Port St. Joe facilities of Eastern Shipbuilding Group Inc. This will require a hands-on approach in completing assigned duties. These are not the only locations work may be required.Travel is required to and from all work locations. Travel and onsite attendance costs will be paid in accordance with company travel policies.Knowledge OfOperations maintenance and repair of marine vessel systems operations especially tugboat operations.Regulations applicable to tugboat construction and operations.Crew habitability needs of tugboats.Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge of the maritime industry required.Familiarity with health safety environmental principles in marine construction transportation and project operations.Familiarity with industry best practices customer vetting requirements and regulatory compliance related to marine and industrial project activities.Ability to communicate technicalcomplex information to non-technical people both verbally and in writing. Accrued vacation will be vested and available for use after successfully completing six 6 months of service.Nine 9 paid holidays with two 2 additional floating holidays available after six 6 months of service.Full time employees will accrue ninety-six 96 hours of sick leave per year up to a maximum of 1040 hours.Bereavement Leave &8211 three 3 paid days off for a death in the immediate family or five 5 days off if travel greater than 500 miles is required.Tuition reimbursement.All other benefits as required by state law.Minimum Qualifications This position generally requires a Bachelor&8217s degree B. S. in marine transportation mechanical engineering science & technology or a related field andor 7 years related experience advanced knowledge of the project area or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience working onboard tugboats is required and licensing as a chief engineer is highly preferred.Working Conditions Approximately 25-50 of the work is conducted in a normal office environment the remaining 50-75 is performed in the field around the vicinity of heavy equipment. May be required to work more than a normal workweek including weekends.PhysicalMental Demands Requires the ability to sit at a desk for extended periods of time and perform typical work in an office environment. For vessels and project onsite work or visits the ability to climb ladders and over bulwarks enter confined spaces work around operating machinery and perform duties while on board moving vessels is necessary. Ability to move between buildings ascenddescend stairs and go outdoors in all kinds of weather.
