Reports To:Operations & Maintenance Manager

THE CHALLENGE

The Fountain Valley Facility is a 240 MW simple-cycle natural gas peaking plant supporting the Colorado grid under a long-term PPA through 2032. Located in Fountain, CO, the site also includes 145 acres available for future development—offering exposure to potential expansion and evolving energy technologies.

This is a hands-on, entry-level opportunity for individuals looking to build a long-term career in power generation. In this role, you will gain experience in both plant operations and maintenance, supported by a structured training program designed to prepare you for advancement to O&M Technician II within 12 months.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintenance

  • Support mechanical and electrical maintenance activities, including troubleshooting and repair
  • Assist with preventative maintenance, outages, and system overhauls
  • Use diagnostic tools, testing equipment, and calibration devices
  • Develop hands-on technical skills across plant systems

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all plant safety procedures and environmental regulations
  • Participate in safety meetings and deliver safety presentations
  • Promote a strong safety culture and proactive hazard identification

Team & Development

  • Work closely with experienced O&M Technicians and plant leadership
  • Complete all O&M Technician II qualification requirements within 12 months
  • Contribute ideas for continuous improvement in plant safety, reliability, and efficiency

THE PROFILE TO SUCCEED

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent military experience)
  • Five years power plant experience. OR a combination of power plant training and experience. OR five years Electrical, Instrumentation or Mechanical Trade experience.
  • Able to perform arithmetic functions including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and some basic algebra
  • Strong commitment to safety and teamwork
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license with acceptable driving record

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree or trade school certification (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, or related field)
  • Experience in power generation, industrial facilities, or military technical roles
  • Familiarity with control systems, instrumentation, or troubleshooting techniques
  • Experience working around hazardous materials or industrial environments

  • Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting aptitude
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to follow technical procedures and instructions
  • Effective communication and teamwork
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, maintenance systems, or similar tools)

THE PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to accomplish physical requirements with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, and lifting. May be required to lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs. Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls and tools. Will occasionally work at heights, climb ladders, stairways, and work off of platforms. Will use vision abilities to focus, see short and long distances, colors, depth perception and peripheral vision. Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and steel-toe boots.
  • Able to hear (at some dB limit of loss) in order to hear plant alarms, equipment condition, and to receive oral instructions.
  • Able to see to determine plant operating conditions and to avoid safety hazards.

THE WORK ENVIRONMENT

Performing this job without full/focused attention may cause serious injury or even fatality. Work is generally performed inside the power plant but may work in all weather conditions ranging from warm/hot - cool/cold. Occasional rain. Noise levels will be moderate to high. Job site will contain light to heavy equipment vehicles, small to large equipment, materials, communication equipment and tools. People standing, walking, sitting, signaling and talking. Bells, whistles and alarms.
