Operations Manager / Audio Visual Technology

Position Title: Operations Event Manager / Audio Visual Technology

Reports To: Director of Operations / Communications Director

Contract Length: 195 days

Position Summary: The Operations Manager / Audio Visual Technology Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing district events while overseeing

the operation, maintenance, and support of audio visual (AV) systems and event technology across the district. This position ensures that school events, meetings, performances, presentations, and community functions operate smoothly, professionally, and efficiently.

The ideal candidate combines strong organizational and operational management skills with technical expertise in sound, lighting, video, livestreaming, and presentation systems.

Duties and Responsibilities

Event Operations & Coordination

  • Plan, organize, and manage district-wide events, including academic ceremonies, athletic events, professional development sessions, concerts, graduations, and community functions.
  • Coordinate event logistics including scheduling, venue setup, staffing, equipment needs, and operational timelines.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external event stakeholders.
  • Coordinate custodial, maintenance, security, transportation, and technology support for events.
  • Manage event calendars and facility scheduling systems.
  • Assist with emergency response planning and operational troubleshooting during events.
  • Lead the execution of all phases of event production, ensuring exceptional service delivery for clients, guests, and internal stakeholders
  • Coordinate with external vendors for equipment rentals and labor, ensuring service quality and reliability
  • Provide hands-on technical support for audio, video, lighting, and hybrid event solutions as needed

Audio Visual & Technology Support

  • Operate and maintain audio visual equipment including sound systems, microphones, projectors, video boards, stage lighting, and livestream equipment.
  • Provide technical support for assemblies, performances, athletic contests, meetings, and special events.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues related to AV systems and event technology.
  • Maintain inventory of AV equipment and recommend upgrades or replacements as needed.
  • Coordinate installation and maintenance of AV systems with vendors and district technology personnel.
  • Train staff on the proper use of presentation and AV equipment.
  • Ensure technology systems are functioning properly prior to all scheduled events.

Operations & Administrative Responsibilities

  • Assist with operational planning and facility usage procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of event requests, equipment usage, maintenance schedules, and operational needs.
  • Ensure compliance with district policies, safety procedures, and applicable regulations.
  • Develop operational procedures and best practices for event management and AV usage.
  • Support district communications and public-facing events through professional technical production.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Event Management, Communications, Technology, Media Production, Operations Management, or related field.
  • Relevant experience in event coordination, AV technology, operations management, or related areas preferred.
  • Experience with sound systems, lighting systems, video production, livestreaming, and presentation software preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required by district events.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and event scheduling.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment related to event setup and AV operations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of audio visual systems and live event production.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical equipment quickly and effectively.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with administrators, staff, students, vendors, and community members.
  • Strong attention to detail and operational efficiency.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in fast-paced event environments.
