Overview

System One is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead manufacturing operations for a growing production facility in Currie, North Carolina. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for driving production performance, developing frontline leaders, improving operational efficiency, and ensuring a safe, high-quality manufacturing environment.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing leadership, production planning, continuous improvement, and team development. This position requires a visible presence on the shop floor and the ability to lead by example while driving accountability and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily manufacturing operations to ensure safety, quality, productivity, and delivery goals are achieved
  • Manage production schedules and capacity planning to meet customer commitments and business objectives
  • Ensure products are manufactured to customer specifications and quality standards
  • Monitor KPIs and production metrics to drive fact-based decision-making and continuous improvement
  • Develop, coach, and mentor supervisors and production personnel
  • Establish accountability and performance expectations across manufacturing teams
  • Maintain a strong shop floor presence and actively support production teams
  • Drive Lean Manufacturing initiatives including 5S, Kaizen, waste reduction, and process standardization
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase throughput and operational efficiency
  • Partner with Engineering on equipment performance, modernization efforts, and automation initiatives
  • Support development and execution of preventive maintenance programs
  • Collaborate with Quality, Engineering, Sales, and HR to ensure alignment across departments
  • Promote a culture focused on safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered
  • 5–10+ years of progressive manufacturing or operations leadership experience
  • Proven experience leading production teams in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of production scheduling, capacity planning, and operational metrics
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, 5S, or similar continuous improvement methodologies
  • Demonstrated success developing frontline leaders and building high-performing teams
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work onsite and maintain a consistent presence on the manufacturing floor

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in metal fabrication, welding, heavy manufacturing, or industrial production environments
  • Experience within nuclear, aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated industries
  • Equipment modernization, automation, or capital project experience
  • Preventive maintenance program development and implementation experience
  • Strong track record of improving productivity, quality, and operational performance
