Operations Manager - Industrial Minerals

SUMMARY:

Direct production, shipping, and maintenance to safely execute plans and meet production goals cost-effectively with high quality.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Direct safe mining, processing, and shipping while maintaining inspection and production records for all plant operations.

• Apply continuous improvement methods to enhance quality, eliminate waste, reduce costs, and boost productivity.

• Coordinate team activities to achieve target output rates aligned with production and quality requirements.

• Recommend updates to standards, workflows, equipment, and processes to drive performance and profitability.

• Assist the Plant Manager with operations reports, weekly IFS uploads, and monthly MoM variance commentary.

• Partner with the Plant Manager to prepare for and lead the Annual Operational Excellence Meeting and review calls.

• Initiate programs to maintain compliance or establish improved operational standards.

• Advise the Plant Manager on operational issues including staffing, equipment, quality, safety, and materials.

• Resolve customer complaints fairly, maintain complaint logs, and support open cross-departmental communication.

• Maintain positive employee relations and oversee hourly hiring processes.

• Ensure full compliance with all safety, health, and environmental regulations and permit conditions.

• Review production and maintenance records for accuracy and address operational issues promptly.

• Assume Plant Manager duties during their absence.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technical major strongly preferred.

• 5+ years of heavy industry experience required, with mining or mineral processing experience strongly preferred.

• 2+ years of front-line supervisory experience required.

• Proven track record of leading and developing teams to drive results.

• Strong negotiation, interpersonal, and communication skills.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
