    Description

    AMPORTS provides automotive processing and terminal operations services focused on quality, safety, operational efficiency, and customer service. This position supports terminal operations by leading employees, coordinating resources, and ensuring customer and production requirements are achieved.
     
    Summary
    This position manages terminal activities, including customer relations, workforce scheduling, employee relations, budgeting, staffing, safety, and production performance. The role serves as the primary customer contact and leads supervisors and operational employees in the execution of daily activities. This position partners with the General Manager to manage terminal operations, allocate resources, and achieve daily, monthly, and annual production goals. The role also oversees yard planning and supports the recruitment and selection of qualified team members.
     
    Key Responsibilities
     
    Customer Relations and Service Delivery
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers regarding terminal activities and service requirements.
    • Build and maintain effective customer relationships through timely, professional communication.
    • Communicate customer expectations to supervisors and operational employees.
    • Coordinate responses to customer questions, concerns, and changing business requirements.
    • Support the timely resolution of operational and service-related issues.
     
    Operations and Production Management
    • Manage daily terminal activities in partnership with the General Manager.
    • Establish operational priorities and coordinate resources to complete daily requirements.
    • Monitor daily, monthly, and annual production performance against established goals.
    • Adjust operational plans in response to production volumes, customer requirements, and business needs.
    • Identify operational obstacles and implement practical solutions to maintain productivity.
    • Promote consistent execution of company procedures and operational expectations.
     
    Workforce Planning and Employee Leadership
    • Lead and direct supervisors and operational employees.
    • Develop labor schedules based on anticipated production volumes and customer requirements.
    • Adjust staffing levels and workforce assignments as business needs fluctuate.
    • Communicate work expectations, production priorities, and operational changes to employees.
    • Support employee relations activities and address workplace concerns in coordination with management and Human Resources.
    • Foster teamwork, accountability, punctuality, and dependable performance.
    • Interview, evaluate, and select candidates for open positions.
     
    Yard Planning, Safety, and Compliance
    • Manage and oversee yard planning to support organized and efficient terminal operations.
    • Coordinate yard activities with production schedules, staffing plans, and customer requirements.
    • Promote compliance with company safety policies, procedures, and operating standards.
    • Monitor workplace conditions and address identified safety or operational concerns.
    • Reinforce safe work practices through visible leadership and consistent communication.
    • Support applicable terminal security and access-control requirements.
    Budget and Resource Management
    • Support the preparation and administration of terminal operating budgets.
    • Monitor labor utilization and adjust staffing plans to align resources with business needs.
    • Manage operational resources responsibly and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
    • Partner with the General Manager to balance service, production, staffing, and financial priorities.
    • Maintain accurate operational information needed to support planning and management decisions.

    Supervisory Responsibility
    Yes. This position directly supervises a team of supervisors and operational employees. Supervisory responsibilities include workforce scheduling, daily direction, employee coaching, staffing, employee relations support, and reinforcement of performance and safety expectations. The number of direct and indirect reports is TBD.
     
    Qualifications
     
    Education:
    Associate degree from a two-year college or technical school, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and related experience.
     
    Experience:
    Six months to one year of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior experience coordinating employees or operational activities is required.
     
    Skills:
    • Intermediate computer proficiency, including email, routine database activities, word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, and related business applications.
    • Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead employees and coordinate operational work.
    • Ability to organize assignments and prioritize competing responsibilities.
    • Ability to solve operational problems and respond to changing business needs.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with customers, employees, supervisors, and management.
    • Strong attention to detail, punctuality, and dependability.
     
    Other:
    • Ability to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
    • Ability to work overtime based on business and operational requirements.
     
    Preferred
    • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
    • One to two years of related experience and/or training.
    • Previous experience supervising employees in a terminal, production, transportation, logistics, yard, or comparable operating environment.
    • Experience supporting labor scheduling, staffing, budgeting, customer relations, or production planning.
     
    Work Environment
    • Work is performed in indoor office, production, shop, enclosed-vehicle, and outdoor terminal environments.
    • Indoor work areas may be lighted, heated, and/or air-conditioned.
    • Operational work areas may involve exposure to changing weather and production or terminal activity.
    • Enclosed vehicles provide adequate ventilation and protection from extreme weather conditions.
     
    Physical Demands
    • Performs light physical activity associated with administrative and production or technical responsibilities.
    • Requires sufficient manual dexterity to reach, handle materials, and operate standard office equipment.
    • Requires the ability to move through terminal, yard, production, shop, and office areas as needed to oversee operations.
     
    Work Schedule
    This is a full-time position. The regular schedule is primarily eight hours per day, Monday through Friday, on a day shift. Overtime is frequently required based on customer requirements, production demands, staffing needs, and other operational conditions.
     
    Travel Requirements
    Minimal overnight travel, up to 10%, by land and/or air.
     
    Work Authorization / Security Clearance
    Must be able to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC). Additional location-specific background, security, or port-access requirements are TBD.
