Job Summary: The Heavy Haul Operations Manager oversees all daily activities within the heavy haul team, providing strong leadership, operational direction, and strategic planning to ensure the safe and efficient movement of oversized and overweight cargo. This role is responsible for supervising the heavy haul operations team, coordinating cross-departmentally with supporting functions, and ensuring that the customers’ Requirements are consistently met to their expectations. The manager works closely with the HH team, sales, and billing teams to maintain service standards and support future business growth. Supervisory Responsibilities: - Oversee daily team operations, ensuring workload balance and productivity.
- Promotes employee development and retention through training, feedback, and mentorship.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Operational Leadership - Provide hands-on leadership in the daily management of the heavy haul operations team, ensuring clear communication and consistent execution following standardized SOPs.
- Oversee and monitor employee work assignments, workflow, work standards, accuracy, and productivity.
- Lead, mentor, and develop team members by setting performance targets, providing coaching, development, and feedback to support long-term professional growth.
- Manage personnel administration tasks, time off requests, manage schedule coverage, review and approve timecards for payroll processing.
Operational Oversight - Participate in the collaboration and review on project pricing and provide operational insight to ensure RFQs are accurate, feasible, and cost-effective.
- Identify operational risks and work with leadership to resolve issues, enhance processes, and strengthen overall operational performance
Communication & Collaboration - Promote clear, consistent professional communication across internal teams to ensure shared operational alignment, collaboration, and effective problem-solving.
- Prioritize and Balance team workloads to address time-sensitive matters that impact service performance, customer satisfaction, and operational quality.
- Demonstrate a positive, solutions-oriented mindset while leading in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional departments, ensuring to meet sales expectations and billing timelines, to deliver unified customer experience.
System & Process Improvement - Lead cross-functional initiatives focused on improving efficiency, eliminating bottlenecks, and optimizing heavy haul processes throughout the project lifecycle.
- Identify, recommend, and implement new workflow processes and systems that improve accuracy, reduce manual effort, and improve overall productivity and quality control.

Position Overview - The position is critical to ensure the company fulfills its promise of safe, reliable, and high-quality heavy-haul transportation services. The Heavy Haul Operations Manager plays a central role in supporting customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and long-term business growth.
Required Skills: - Proven leadership in 3PL complex logistics or transportation operations.
- Strong technical and Industry knowledge in oversized overweight (OS/OW) transportation, equipment, routing, and permitting.
- Proven ability in managing complex projects with PMP certification or equivalent project management experience preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of DOT regulations, business development principles, and industry best practices within the specialized transport sector.
- Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to lead teams and collaborate across departments.
Education and Experience:- High school diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field is a plus.
- 5+ years of experience in heavy haul transportation roles.
- At least 3 years of direct supervisory experience are required.
- PMP certification, Six Sigma, or equivalent process improvement credentials preferred.
- Prior CDL-A driving experience is beneficial but not required.
