Operations Manager – Janitorial/EVS Services-Birmingham, AL

Salary: $50,000–$60,000 annually, based on experience

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager with a strong background in commercial janitorial, custodial, or Environmental Services (EVS) to oversee daily operations and ensure exceptional service delivery across multiple client locations.

The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with demonstrated experience managing supervisors and frontline employees, maintaining quality standards, controlling labor costs, and building strong client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

- Oversee daily janitorial/EVS operations across multiple client locations

- Manage, coach, and provide direction to site supervisors, team leads, and frontline employees

- Ensure all locations are properly staffed and coordinate coverage for call-outs and vacancies

- Participate in recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, training, and retention efforts

- Conduct routine facility inspections to ensure contractual cleaning and quality standards are consistently met

- Identify service deficiencies and implement corrective-action plans

- Respond promptly and professionally to client concerns, complaints, and special requests

- Monitor employee attendance, performance, productivity, and timekeeping

- Review labor hours and overtime to ensure operations remain within budget

- Coordinate floor care, deep cleaning, and special projects

- Monitor cleaning supplies, chemicals, equipment, and inventory

- Ensure employees follow established safety procedures, including proper use of PPE and cleaning chemicals

- Maintain compliance with OSHA, SDS, and applicable workplace safety requirements

- Complete operational reports, incident documentation, and performance-related documentation

- Assist with new account start-ups and operational transitions

- Maintain strong client relationships and identify opportunities to improve service delivery

- Travel between assigned client locations throughout the Birmingham area

Required Qualifications

- Minimum of 3 years of management experience in commercial janitorial, custodial, or Environmental Services (EVS) operations

- Demonstrated experience managing supervisors/team leads and frontline employees

- Experience managing multiple facilities, accounts, or departments preferred

- Strong knowledge of commercial cleaning procedures, chemicals, equipment, floor care, and quality-control standards

- Experience conducting facility inspections and addressing service deficiencies

- Experience with employee scheduling, staffing, training, performance management, and retention

- Experience monitoring payroll, labor hours, overtime, supplies, and operational expenses

- Strong client-relations and customer-service skills

- Strong organizational, communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills

- Basic computer and administrative skills

- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required

- Ability to respond to operational issues outside normal business hours when necessary
