Operations Manager to lead day-to-day machining operations in a high-volume manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for driving production performance, leading supervisors and hourly team members, improving machining processes, maintaining quality and safety standards, and ensuring customer and business objectives are met.
The ideal candidate will bring strong CNC machining leadership experience, a hands-on manufacturing background, and the ability to lead people, improve processes, and execute production goals in a fast-paced machine shop environment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead daily machine shop operations, including CNC machining, production flow, scheduling, staffing, and performance.
Manage and support supervisors, leads, machinists, operators, and support personnel.
Drive safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost performance across the department.
Monitor production metrics, identify bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions.
Partner with engineering, maintenance, quality, planning, and operations leadership to resolve issues and improve performance.
Ensure machines, tooling, fixtures, and work instructions support efficient and accurate production.
Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on scrap reduction, cycle time improvement, throughput, labor efficiency, and overall shop performance.
Maintain accountability for attendance, training, performance management, employee development, and shop-floor discipline.
Ensure compliance with company policies, safety procedures, quality standards, and customer requirements.
Help develop standard work, improve scheduling discipline, and create a culture of ownership, communication, and accountability.
Qualifications
Prior leadership experience in a CNC machining or machine shop environment.
Strong understanding of machining operations, tooling, fixtures, production flow, quality requirements, and manufacturing processes.
Experience leading supervisors, leads, machinists, operators, or hourly production teams.
Ability to read and understand blueprints, work instructions, production schedules, and quality documentation.
Strong problem-solving, communication, and team leadership skills.
Experience with Lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, 5S, root cause analysis, or similar manufacturing improvement methods preferred.
Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, maintenance, quality, production planning, and senior leadership.
Strong sense of urgency and ability to drive results in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
