My client, a small, recently acquired developer of electro-optics devices for DoD end users needs a seasoned tech-exec to create a first-class scalable mfg. operation in anticipation of explosive growth. Director of Operations (Reports to GM/Onsite) - A hands-on role to transform a small-company culture into a streamlined, 5S/Lean operation; establish best practices, integrate efficient data-tracking systems to maximize labor efficiency, reduce costs, ensure proper material planning and utilization, and meet customer expectations for on-time deliverables. Responsible for Thin film, camera & optics production.DoD client experience is REQUIRED.

Duties

  • Operational Leadership - Mfg., supply chain, logistics; quality, cost objectives; yields & on-time delivery.
  • Strategic Planning & Execution - Translate business goals into actionable plans with measurable outcomes. Capacity planning, capital investments, and facility expansion.
  • Continuous Improvement - Lean Mfg, Six Sigma; Establish/monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational dashboards.
  • Financial & Business Mgt. - Budgets, forecasts & cost controls. Margin improvement, productivity, cost reduction & process optimization. Work with Finance to analyze performance/support strategic decision-making.
  • Compliance & Risk Mgt - ITAR / EAR / US Gov't. / ISO / Mil Specs / Export Controls
  • Leadership/Talent Development - Build, lead & develop high-performance teams.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration - New Product Intro, Process Devel. & DFM.

Education & Experience

  • BS/MS in Eng'g, Operations, Business
  • 10–15 yrs of progressive operations leadership,
  • Optics, photonics, Precision Mfg
  • Prior DoD or government contract support REQUIRED
