AWCT is hiring a full time Operations Manager for our Chicago Ford location. This is located near 122nd & Torrence. This will be a night shift position - 5:30pm-2:30am Monday- Friday and this position comes with an AMAZING benefits package and great pay too! Please apply fast for this position!
The general pay range for this position is $72,000-$78,000. The successful candidate's actual pay will be based on various factors, such as qualifications, experience, internal equity, and market considerations.

Summary
The Operations Manager is responsible for maintaining a positive working relationship with AWCT customers, organizing and scheduling staff, and directing the day-to-day operations of all rail, yard, shuttle, and/or plant functions. This position ensures the safe, efficient, and high-quality receipt, movement, inspection, and storage of vehicles through effective workforce management. The Operations Manager coordinates the activities of supervisors and associates under the direction of the Terminal Manager to ensure a well-coordinated, productive, cost-efficient, and safe operation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Direct and oversee day-to-day rail, yard, shuttle, and plant operations, as applicable.
- Develop and execute daily manpower plans; assign personnel to job locations and shifts to meet operational needs.
- Oversee vehicle receipt, movement, storage, and pre-delivery inspection activities.
- Communicate daily with supervisors, leads, and office staff to address staffing, supply, and operational requirements.
- Manage and coach supervisors; provide leadership, performance feedback, and development.
- Administer progressive discipline in coordination with the Terminal Manager and Human Resources.
- Interpret and apply Collective Bargaining Agreement provisions to avoid grievances and disputes; seek guidance when needed.
- Ensure accurate labor timekeeping using the Workforce Time & Attendance system; serve as backup for corrections.
- Ensure completion of all end-of-shift reports and required documentation.
- Enforce safety programs and ensure compliance with OSHA, AAR, customer, and AWCT requirements.
- Respond to and investigate accidents and incidents; complete required reports and notifications.
- Conduct audits, observe operations, and recommend corrective actions and process improvements.
- Support equipment, facility, and property maintenance activities.
- Interface with customers to support service expectations and satisfaction.
- Serve as backup to the Terminal Manager as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3–5 years of supervisory or management experience in logistics, automotive, warehousing, or manufacturing.
- Experience supervising in a union / Collective Bargaining Agreement environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals (e.g., AAR Manual).
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office and Time & Attendance systems; ability to learn AWCT proprietary systems (e.g., VIPS).
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record; ability to drive automatic and manual transmission vehicles.
- Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays as operational needs require.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of customer-proprietary and sensitive associate information.
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associates degree or higher preferred
- Familiarity with internal and customer systems (e.g., AS400/VIPS)
