The Operations Manager oversees tactical and strategic management of all critical manufacturing processes and related personnel to achieve customer satisfaction and facilitate growth and long-term profitability of the Company:
1. Manages manufacturing activities enabling products to be produced and delivered on schedule and within established quality standards and cost objectives.
2. Directs daily plant operations including manufacturing, maintenance, worker safety, regulatory compliance, warehousing and logistics under direction and in collaboration with the General Manager or President.
3. Directs estimating and engineering activities in support of manufacturing, sales and quality standards.
4. Directs supply chain and production control processes to support manufacturing and sales by planning materials and work orders to realize maximum production efficiencies with minimal waste.
5. Establishes optimal workflow and process standards to maximize the consistency, efficiency and repeatability of all outputs. Including but not limited to: engineering and programming methodologies, sales quote preparation, materials planning, production scheduling and labor data collection.
6. Collaborates with quality and upper management to support and maintain the Company’s ongoing ISO 9001 certification, including setting and attainment of Quality Metric goals. Executes and adjusts where needed to meet all quality objectives.
7. Functions as both a critical ally for sales and an advocate for manufacturing, navigating and effectively balancing opposing divisions in order for the company to continue servicing its customers while also growing its sales and profitability.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Serves as a key member of management in the development of long and short-range planning, policies, programs and objectives.
2. Provides functional, technical, and process leadership. Balance sales and manufacturing goals and plans with creativity.
3. Collaborates with sales, engineering and production teams on new business prospects; develop creative solutions for perceived obstacles and push manufacturing to deliver on the opportunities, including developing new capabilities for sales to sell.
4. Represents manufacturing on customer plant tours, and prospect and customer site visits.
5. Develops the manufacturing plan and establish procedures for maintaining high standards of manufacturing operations, ensuring products repeatedly conform to established customer and company quality standards.
6. Achieves optimum employee levels with least amount of overhead and raw material costs to meet annual budgetary plans.
7. Formulates and recommends manufacturing policies, processes and programs that guide the company in maintaining and improving its competitive position in the market and the profitability of the operation.
8. Directs and monitors department managers and key personnel to accomplish goals of the manufacturing plan, consistent with established manufacturing and safety procedures, and to support outside sales goals and budgets.
9. Initiates and oversees implementation of major projects (e.g. capital investment and installation, plant layout changes, major repairs, etc.).
10. Directs the establishment, implementation and maintenance of production standards.
11. Working with plant management, identifies, recommends and oversees implementation of changes to improve productivity and to reduce costs, including the monitoring of scrap, rework and employee efficiency data.
12. Working with plant management, directs and oversees various programs essential to manufacturing procedures (e.g. training, safety, housekeeping, cost reduction, worker involvement, security, etc.).
13. Directs all aspects of manufacturing operations for the plant to produce cost-effective, timely and high-quality products in a safe, secure and sanitary work environment.
14. Directs development of production work schedules to meet internal goals and customer expectations; monitors process and personnel performance of scheduled work activities to remove operating impediments and achieve established operating goals
15. Directs engineering to support manufacturing and quality in part production and inspection, through programming (new parts, new programs for capacity reallocation, ECNs) and new part conversions and to support sales and manufacturing in providing timely quote turnaround to secure new and repeat business opportunities in a competitive marketplace.
16. Directs the supply chain and production control to support manufacturing and sales with part production through effective supplier relationships and outsourcing opportunities with competitive pricing, as well as scheduling management and optimization of run quantities.
17. Directs inside sales to support sales initiatives through quality customer service and support, timely order and quote processing, and overall customer management and account maintenance.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS Knowledge and Skills

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Operations Management or equivalent required.
• Minimum six years of experience working in related field. Job Shop and/or Sheet Metal Fabrication environment preferred.
• Previous experience in employee and project management required.
• Knowledge of precision sheet metal manufacturing and related processes.
• Experience in part quoting and creation of production routings.
• Familiarity with production equipment, including capabilities, limitations and speeds.
• Ability to accurately read blueprints and drawings.

Communication Skills

• Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of professional interactions with sales department, customers, suppliers and plant production staff.
• Ability to prepare and explain statistical reports, price quotes, drawings and production specifications.
• Ability to present project plans and analysis on future investments to Management and Board of Directors.

Work Environment/Equipment

• Computer system, manufacturing tools and machinery.
• Office environment with frequent interaction and time on production floor.

Physical Requirements

• Occasional operation of plant equipment, requiring some lifting and standing.
• Dexterity and visual requirements to design and test shop process; operating computers.
