Are you an experienced operational leader looking for an opportunity to make a visible difference to local communities?
We are seeking a proactive and motivated Operations Officer to help lead our Waste and Street Scene services, ensuring the safe, efficient and effective delivery of frontline environmental services across North Yorkshire.
About the Role
As an Operations Officer, you will play a key role in the day-to-day management of frontline teams delivering essential waste collection and street cleansing services. You will be responsible for coordinating resources, managing operational challenges in real time, and ensuring services continue to meet the needs of residents and businesses.
Working closely with operational management, you will provide leadership to teams, support service improvements, and ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, transport regulations and council policies.
This is a varied and hands-on role that requires strong organisational skills, effective people management and the ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced operational environment.
Typical working days are Tuesday-Friday, and hours currently vary between 5:30am and 5:30 pm shifts, you need to be prepared to start early. Some weekend and bank holiday working may be required.

What We're Looking For
Experience working within waste management, street cleansing, parks, environmental services or a similar operational environment. Experience supervising or managing staff. Knowledge of health and safety legislation and operational compliance requirements. Experience operating and/or managing Operator Licence vehicles. Strong organisational and resource-planning skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to make decisions and prioritise effectively under pressure
Knowledge of transport legislation, driver hours regulations and licence categories Full UK driving licence.
