Position Overview:
We are seeking a hands-on Operations & Production Manager to lead daily execution of our manufacturing operation in Randolph, Vermont.
This is not a corporate management role. We are looking for a builder, problem solver, and operational leader who enjoys being close to the action, driving continuous improvement, and helping teams perform at a higher level.
You will be responsible for the successful execution of customer orders from planning through shipment while improving the systems, processes, and workflows that support the business.
The ideal candidate is equally comfortable on the factory floor, in an ERP system, reviewing production schedules, working with suppliers, and leading process improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Production & Manufacturing:
- Lead daily manufacturing operations and production execution
- Establish and maintain an effective daily production cadence
- Monitor production schedules, capacity, labor utilization, and workflow
- Remove obstacles that impact throughput, quality, or on-time delivery
- Drive accountability and communication across the operation
- Support quality and continuous improvement initiatives
Planning, Materials & Supply Chain:
- Oversee production planning and materials availability
- Work closely with purchasing and materials planning teams
- Improve inventory management and inventory accuracy
- Support supplier performance and lead-time improvement efforts
- Ensure production schedules align with customer commitments
Process Improvement & Business Systems:
- Improve operational workflows and information flow across departments
- Drive better utilization of ERP and business systems
- Improve BOM accuracy, routing accuracy, and production data integrity
- Identify and implement process improvements that reduce cost and increase efficiency
- Support development of scalable operational processes as the business grows
Team Leadership:
- Lead and develop production and operational personnel
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement
- Build strong working relationships across production, engineering, customer service, and sales
- Promote a positive, hands-on, problem-solving environment
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of manufacturing, operations, production, or supply chain leadership experience
- Experience managing production teams in a manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of production planning, inventory management, and supply chain operations
- Experience working with ERP/MRP systems
- Demonstrated ability to improve processes, workflows, and operational performance
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Hands-on leadership style with a willingness to engage directly in operational challenges
Preferred:
- Experience in electronics manufacturing, LED lighting, electromechanical products, or related industries
- Experience with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies
- Familiarity with manufacturing engineering and product introduction processes
