Operations Research Analyst

Provides experience in operations research related directly to economic analysis, cost modeling, and modeling of IT problems. Applies appropriate operations research modeling techniques to problems that model input, output, and logical flow in sufficient detail for programming. Monitors the mathematical and programming aspects of a project for adherence to the objectives of the model. Capable of developing models that can utilize simulation. Applies operations research methodology to defining and formulating economic analysis and related benefit, cost, and risk studies.

Responsibilities

  • Technical & Strategic Advisory: Serve as a technical and operations research advisor to management officials, program leaders, and analytical teams, providing data-driven solutions to operational challenges
  • Modeling & Simulation: Develop and apply mathematical models, statistical analysis, and simulation techniques (e.g., linear/nonlinear programming, decision theory, machine learning) to address problems in procurement, finance, logistics, and other functional areas
  • Cost & Economic Analysis: Perform cost modeling, benefit-cost analysis, and risk assessment, applying statistical, financial, and cost-accounting concepts to support program planning and decision-making
  • Contract & Study Support: Ensuring compliance with DoD standards
  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Analyze large datasets (military operations, logistics, personnel, resources) to identify trends, inefficiencies, and optimization opportunities
  • Decision Support: Develop decision-support tools, dashboards, and reports to aid senior leadership in mission-critical decisions
  • Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams, engineers, scientists, and customers to produce targeting products, cost estimates, and strategic recommendations
  • Project Management: Lead or coordinate analytical studies, set milestones, and manage resources for complex projects.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Five (5) years relevant experience
  • Must be able to obtain or currently possess IT-II Non-Critical Sensitive security clearance or Tier 3 (T3)
  • Experienced and capable of applying operations research methodology to defining and formulating economic analysis and related benefit, cost and risk studies.
  • Expert in the principles, theories, procedures, and techniques of cost analysis, including statistical concepts (standard deviation, confidence limits, and expected value), financial analysis concepts (present value analysis, return on investment [ROI], discounting, and inflation), and cost-accounting concepts (depreciation, amortization, overhead identification, and distribution).
  • Experience and knowledge in principles of cost modeling.
  • Undergraduate Degree Preferred.
  • Experience with Defense Programs Preferred.

Pay Range

$85,000-$90,000 USD
