The Weapons Facility Operations (WFO) Division is searching for a Procedure Writer and Readiness Liaison. This position will be an integral member of the WFO Division, an organization responsible for ensuring each facility within the Weapons Engineering complex is able to operate reliably while striving for continued excellence. You will interact with a wide variety of staff from several facilities to include High Explosives facilities, the DARHT accelerator facility, and the WETF Tritium operations facility.
As Operations Specialist 2, you will be expected to meet the following duties.
- Contribute ideas and work products to technical and administrative documents.
- Speak and write on behalf of the WFO division through a variety of media.
- Coordinate with internal and external customers.
- Research and apply best practices in both procedure writing and readiness program implementation.
- Ensure all work processes and products meet established requirements within DOE and LANL policies and procedures.
- Perform and assist in routine facility or area walk-downs.
- Assist in assessments.
- Track and schedule actions for facility and organization readiness.
- Function as the point of contact for all programmatic and operations customers.
- To be successful you should be a highly motivated and customer service focused individual; comfortable working across multiple stakeholder groups, building collaborative relationships, coordinating with peers, and collaborating with others. You will also demonstrate good judgment in selecting techniques for obtaining solutions working under limited direction.

Technical Writing & Procedure Development
- Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining technical procedures or controlled documents in a regulated or operations environment
- Ability to analyze and translate technical information into clear, structured, and user-focused documentation

Communication & Customer Engagement
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated customer service skills and ability to work effectively across all levels of an organization

Operations & Process Awareness
- Working experience in an operational, technical, or compliance-driven environment
- Ability to understand and apply policies, procedures, and institutional requirements to work products
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a dynamic work environment
Personal Effectiveness & Business Tools
- Proven ability to work independently with limited supervision while handling shifting priorities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) to develop and manage documentation and track information
- Associate degree and at least 4 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Education/Experience: Position requires an Associate's Degree and 4 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with MS SharePoint and its functionality.
- Experience working to and updating project schedules.
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to use LANL business systems (Outlook, ACCESS, Oracle, UTrain, PDMLink, etc.).
- Experience with process improvement methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma
Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position commitment:
Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Additional Details
Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Clearance: Q(Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance, and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
