    Description

    Operations Specialist

    The Warehouse/Production Specialist supports PDI's warehouse and production operations in a manner that meets PDI's mission to serve people with disabilities while fulfilling the exacting requirements of its business and commercial partners.

    Essential dutiesand responsibilities include:

    • Load and unload materials to and from designated storage areas at PDI warehouse, production areas, or other work sites
    • Stack and pile materials, such as boxes, cell packs, skids, or pallets
    • Transport material to and from designated areas by hand or by using a dolly, a hand truck, and powered lift equipment
    • Bundle and band finished product using banding machines, pallet wrap, label, and attach shipping documents
    • Clean work areas using brooms, rags, and cleaning compounds
    • Read work orders and listen to oral instructions to determine work assignments
    • Assist in work areas and other PDI environments as required
    • Supports assembly and maintenance operations as required
    • Forward shipping and receiving documents and files related to inbound receipt of goods to the supervisor
    • Quality Control, inspect items are correctly packaged and documentation is technical and numerically correct.
    • Address correctable deficiencies while performing the work as quickly as possible and oversee corrective action

    This position does require you to have a current and active driver's license, and personal automobile insurance, drive a company vehicle or PDI vehicle on PDI business.

    Minimum requirements for all PDI positions include:

    • Age 18 or over
    • Pass a pre-hire drug and background screen, as well as random drug screens
    • Computer-literate, comfortable with technology
    • Well-developed oral and written communication skills
    • Complete and pass First Aid, CPR, and other required training
    • If driving a PDI vehicle on company business, possess a valid driver's license and agree to a review of your motor vehicle record
    • If driving your personal vehicle on PDI business, provide proof of automobile insurance and proof of required automobile insurance limits

    Required education and experience:

    • High school diploma or general education degree ("GED")
    • One year of warehouse experience required
    • Experience working with people with disabilities is preferred

    Language ability:

    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
    • Ability to clearly and legibly write routine reports and correspondence
    • Ability to speak effectively with people served and their support networks, and co-workers

    Mathematics ability:

    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals

    Reasoning ability:

    • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
    • Ability to deal with problems involving several variables

    Work environment:

    • The Warehouse 1 Specialist / Driver works in the main PDI facility
    • Reasonable accommodation may be provided to enable people with disabilities to perform the essential functions
    • Occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions and occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather)
    • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but can often be elevated and hectic

    Position type and expected hours of work:

    • This is a full-time or part-time position
    • Hours will generally be 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday
    • An unpaid 30-minute meal period is required

    Physical demands:

    • The Warehouse Specialist must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds with the aid of an assistive device
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
    • While performing the duties of this job, the Warehouse Specialist is regularly required to reach with hands and arms and talk or hear
    • The Warehouse Specialist is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
    • The Warehouse Specialist is occasionally required to taste or smell
