Job Description

A well-established manufacturer specializing in high-performance polymer and specialty chemical materials is seeking a hands-on Operations Supervisor to oversee day-to-day manufacturing, maintenance, warehouse, and facility operations at its Carlstadt, NJ location. This position is ideal for a technically strong operations professional with experience in the CASE chemical industry (Coatings, Adhesives, Sealants, and Elastomers) or related chemical manufacturing environments.

This is not a desk-only supervisory role. The Operations Supervisor will serve as a key operational and technical resource for the facility, taking ownership of industrial maintenance, equipment reliability, production support, warehouse oversight, and facility improvement initiatives. The company is preparing for a major operational growth and in-sourcing transition, making this a critical role focused on improving operational efficiency, supporting equipment installations, and helping build scalable processes for future growth.

Key responsibilities include overseeing preventive and corrective maintenance programs for mixers, pumps, tanks, filling equipment, conveyors, forklifts, and related production machinery; troubleshooting mechanical and basic electrical issues; coordinating outside contractors and licensed electricians when necessary; and maintaining maintenance logs, spare parts inventory, and equipment reliability programs.

The Operations Supervisor will also provide day-to-day direction to production and warehouse personnel, establish daily priorities, enforce accountability, and ensure adherence to safety, quality, and productivity standards. Additional responsibilities include supporting production operations as needed, overseeing shipping and receiving activities, maintaining inventory accuracy, ensuring OSHA and environmental compliance, supporting quality assurance processes, and managing ERP/inventory transactions within the company"s operating systems.

This role requires a leader who is comfortable working directly alongside the team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while helping drive operational improvements and long-term facility growth.

Qualifications / Requirements
5+ years of experience in chemical manufacturing operations, preferably within the CASE industry (Coatings, Adhesives, Sealants, and Elastomers)
Strong hands-on mechanical troubleshooting experience with industrial equipment such as mixers, pumps, filling systems, conveyors, tanks, or related process manufacturing machinery
Working knowledge of industrial electrical systems, preventive maintenance programs, OSHA safety regulations, and warehouse/logistics operations within a chemical manufacturing environment
Proven ability to lead production and warehouse teams while supporting facility improvements, capital projects, inventory systems, and day-to-day manufacturing operations
