Operations Supervisor - Night Shift

The Operations Supervisor – Night Shift oversees plant operations during night hours, providing hands-on, servant leadership to the operator team. This role ensures smooth and efficient production activities, maintains high standards of feed and food safety by strictly following Safe Feed/Safe Food policies, and takes immediate corrective action when safety issues arise. The supervisor actively participates in production as needed while driving operational excellence and continuous improvement across the facility.

• Provide direct supervision and servant leadership to night shift plant operators, ensuring safe and efficient operations.
• Oversee day-to-day operational functions within the plant, including production processes and material flow.
• Act as a working supervisor by stepping in to perform production tasks when staffing needs or operational demands arise.
• Ensure strict adherence to Feed Safety and Food Safety standards by following all Safe Feed/Safe Food policies and protocols.
• Identify, respond to, and resolve safety issues immediately, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Monitor equipment performance and assist with basic troubleshooting of machines to minimize downtime and maintain productivity.
• Support and promote continuous improvement initiatives in operations, production, and safety practices.
• Coordinate work activities, assign tasks, and provide clear direction to team members during the night shift.
• Use basic math and computer skills to complete operational documentation, track production, and maintain accurate records.
• Communicate effectively with team members and other shifts to ensure smooth handoffs and consistent plant performance.

• Minimum of 2+ years of experience in a supervisor-level role within a related industry or field.
• Proven supervision and management skills with the ability to lead and develop an operator team.
• Ability to function as a working supervisor and perform production duties when needed.
• Knowledge of, or ability to learn, basic troubleshooting skills for production machinery and equipment.
• Strong safety mindset with demonstrated ability to enforce safety protocols and respond quickly to issues.
• Experience in operations, operations management, production, or production management.
• Commitment to continuous improvement in processes, safety, and operational efficiency.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid Iowa driver’s license and ability to obtain a Class A CDL.
• Interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive working relationships.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to follow directions, interpret and work from written instructions.
• Basic math skills and ability to operate a computer.

• Additional education beyond a High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
• Experience in an agricultural or ag chemical production environment is beneficial.
• Strong leadership qualities with a focus on servant leadership and employee development.
• Interest in professional development and training, including obtaining advanced certifications.
• Ability to adapt to changing production needs and work effectively in a dynamic plant environment.

The role is based in an agricultural chemical plant environment where products are unloaded from railcars and transported through the facility using pumps and other processing equipment. You work around machinery that moves and transfers product through various stages of the process, requiring attention to safety protocols and equipment operation. The position is on the night shift, supporting continuous plant operations in a setting that combines industrial production with agricultural chemical handling.

This is a Permanent position based out of Pleasant Hill, IA.

The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $80000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
